Miles for Moffitt

Today we ran the Miles for Moffitt 5 mile race at USF. The race started a tradition that, in three years, raised more than $230,000, making this a signature fundraiser vital to helping Moffitt researchers in the their quest to help prevent and cure cancer. There was a big group of us among the 4000 people who ran or walked to support our friends and family members who have passed away or are survivors. In the past year, 2 of our friends, Beth Wood and Jamie Allen passed away from cancer. My aunt Carol also passed away almost 3 years ago. These were all amazing ladies and it was an honor to be able to contribute in at least a small way. Here's our team!

PPA Super Monday Workshop

There is so much to learn in photography and I try to challenge myself as much as I can!! I participated in a Professional Photographers of America workshop this past month in Orlando. Arturo, from Atrz Photo hosted the session on all the criteria judges look at when you submit prints into competition. It was really interesting to see what technical aspects goes into it because it's much different from what you would want as a bride or client. We also did a shoot with the models he had come by. I took away some very practical things that I could use right away which was awesome! Hopefully I'll submit some competition stuff soon! Here's a few of mine.....

Real Wedding: Emily + Todd in Arlington Heights, IL

This past weekend I traveled up to the Chicago suburbs for Emily and Todd's Wedding. I think the sunshine followed me because it rained every day up until Thursday!
Emily and had been talking about the details she had been planning for the last year so it was really fun to see it all come together. I learned something too, I didn't know that the saying "Something old something new, somthing borrowed, something blue" ends with "a six pence in your shoe" so there you go, new fun fact. The trees and tulips were all in bloom in the park in downtown Arlington Heights which made for a really colorful backdrop for the bridal party pics. Since they thought it was going to rain they even had a green umbrella ready so even though it was sunny we put that to use. Emily has 4 sisters and Todd has 2 brothers and it was really neat to see how close both of their families have become through their relationship. I also got to shoot again with my associate photographer in Chicago, Meredith who is amazing, thanks Mer!! Congrats and best wishes to Emily and Todd!!! Their wedding gallery will be available at www.pictage.com/480794
