Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal

Union Terminal originally was the Cincinnati railroad station.  It has a very interesting history and in 1990 became the home for the, Cincinnati History MuseumMuseum of Natural History & ScienceRobert D. Lindner Family Omnimax TheaterCincinnati Historical Society LibraryDuke Energy Children's Museum, The Cincinnati Railroad Club, and there are still a few trains that go in and out each week.  Definitely a wedding venue that gives a totally unique feel. This location really brought out my creativity because of the different lighting opportunities both natural light and the way that the scene can be changed using off camera light.  It's something I'm always working on!  I love the green tile ice cream shop and the old trolley:-)  The long hallways a huge windows are amazing.  We'll be doing some more work coming up with these unique venues in Cincinnati coming soon!

Wiedemann Hill Mansion

This week I'll be featuring several really unique venues we've been working with in the Cincinnati/Northern KY area.  The beautifully restored Wiedemann Hill Mansion sits on top of a hill in Newport, KY overlooking the city.  The story behind it is just as interesting as it is beautiful.   It was built in 1894 by Charles Wiedemann, who was heir to the George Wiedemann Brewery.   It remained in the family until 1951 when the Dioceses of Covington aquired it for the Bishop and used some of the 12 original acres for a Catholic High School.  In 1981 Dr. Tom Powell, a dentist and entertainer purchased the property and used it for his production studio and advertising business.  In 2005 the current owners Donna and Roger Weddle began an 18 month restoration.  I got to spend some time getting to know Donna and I would definitely call them restoration artists.  You can read the full history here.  They also have been able to find memorabilia from the Wiedemann Brewery, the bathroom is really interesting!  The stained glass, wood detail, and breathtaking views and sunsets over the city definitely makes this a treasure of a property.  The owners live on the 3rd floor and the first 2 floors are used for weddings, rehearsals, and corporate events.  Definitely a photographer's dream:-)  Erika was our fabulous and beautiful model!

Carla + Brad the day after....

I think I have to start calling these sessions "Day After" or "Back in the Dress" because they are probably my favorite type of sessions to do and I think "Trash the Dress" is a scary term.  Carla and Brad wanted wanted to do a session in some of their favorite places around Cincinnati, sometimes on your wedding day their isn't time to do that, so the day after or close after is a perfect time to use that dress one more time!  Some of their favorite memories are spending time in Newport, ice cream, and baseball so that's what we did!  The people at Schneider's Candy Shop were so nice and even let us use that lollipop thankfully we didn't break it because it was like $40!  Carla really wanted to go in the fountain in Fountain Square but we found out the police department was about 100 yards away:-)
